The resort, situated at the southern end of Bang Tao beach, a popular tourist area, lies on a stretch of beach that was recently blackened by polluted water from a nearby canal.

A Phuketwan article says that while most large resorts on Phuket treat their own waste water and recycle it for plants and trees, the canal at Bang Tao and other canals across Phuket are so badly polluted they now pose a health danger.
