US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he was considering fast-tracking a ‘new order’ to restrict US Visas that would replace the previous order that has, for the time being, been halted.
“We will win that battle,” Trump said. “The unfortunate part is that it takes time.”
On Thursday, a federal appeals court rejected the Administration’s case to reinstate the ban on travel to the US from seven Muslim-majority nations.
“SEE YOU IN COURT, THE SECURITY OF OUR NATION IS AT STAKE! [sic]” the President all-caps tweeted after the decision, vowing to take the fight all the way to the Supreme Court.
Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said several options were being considered including asking the Supreme Court to lift the temporary restraining order on the travel bans, and creating a new order that would only affect the issuing of new visas and honouring visas that have already been granted.
