The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Sydney Office plans to promote Thailand as the world’s leading destination for weddings and honeymooners, undertaking a number of marketing campaigns and events throughout 2017.
The tourism office kicked off a year of campaigns with The Ultimate Bridal Event held in Sydney and Melbourne in January, which has already generated a great deal of interest.
Another campaign rolled out earlier this year, “Thailand Wedding Destiny”, offered nine couples from nine countries the chance to win a wedding in Thailand. The venue chosen for wedding celebrations by the lucky Australian couple who won this year is the Intercontinental Samui Baan Taling Ngam Resort, a five-star luxury hotel in Surat Thani.
Firmly positioning the country as a World Class Wedding Destination, TAT will also be hosting the 4th annual Destination Wedding Planners (DWP) Congress, in Phuket from 2 – 4 May, which is expected to attract 450 delegates from around the world. The DWP Congress brings together high end destination wedding planners to meet with a number of high-end organisations; luxury hotels, chateaus, palaces and venues, as well as leading wedding suppliers; ranging from couture designers and furniture rentals to photographers and cake designers; for three full days of pre-arranged meetings, networking functions and themed gala dinners.
Ms.Rujiras Chatchalermkit, TAT Sydney director said, “Thailand is well known for its cultural allure and natural beauty, scenic stretches of beaches, mountains, greenery, entertainment, and world renowned hospitality; so it is no surprise that many couples select Thailand as their wedding and honeymoon destinations.”
The tourism office hopes to collaborate with many partners and exhibitors throughout the year in its quest for continued growth in the wedding and honeymoon market.
