The Austrian National Tourist Office has just announced details of its third annual Destination Summit, to be held from 13 – 22 October this year. Twenty Australian agents will be given the opportunity to exchange latest trends in travel, build a global network among peers, and learn from Austria’s leading tourism professionals.
“Engage. Explore. Experience” is this year’s motto for agents attending the Austria Destination Summit (ADS).
“The format has proven so successful that the ADS is back by popular demand. It is the third time we are hosting this prestigious event, tailored towards high-end leisure travel agents to gain full insight into the luxury and experiential offering of the “Heart of Europe” said Astrid Mulholland-Licht, Director of the Austrian National Tourist Office in Australia.
The summit will start with a 3-day educational program in Vienna, including the Destination Day at Schoenbrunn Palace, a forum to meet 30 top suppliers face to face. The social program includes a welcome reception at Belvedere Palace with an exclusive viewing of Klimt’s “The Kiss” and a private evening performance at the Spanish Riding School. An in-depth tour program offering 6 different themes will help agents to tailor-make itineraries for discerning clients. Hotel partners in Vienna include Hotel Sacher, Hotel Bristol, Park Hyatt, Hotel Sans Souci and Hotel Steigenberger Herrenhof.
Afterwards attendees can choose from four different Discovery Journeys to various regions in Austria to explore the country’s rich culture and beautiful landscape:
Discovery Journey to Burgenland + Styria
This trip is an introduction to Austria’s South East. After visiting Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt participants experience the best of Austria’s thermal spa hotels and then head to Graz, capital of Styria but often also referred to as Austria’s “Capital of Culinary Delights”.
Discovery Journey to Lake District + the City of Salzburg
A Journey dedicated to Austria’s centre. The picture-perfect Lake District invites visitors to hike, discover the local cuisine and marvel at crystal clear waters. The city of Salzburg offers an equally iconic panorama which was made famous through Sound of Music.
Discovery Journey Tirol
The Austrian Alps with their breathtaking peaks and an immense wealth of culture will take centre stage during this journey starting in the Oetztal valley with an option to glacier-ski in Austria’s most snow secure ski resort where James Bond once chased villains for the movie “Spectre”. Afterwards, the city of Innsbruck, host to 3 Olympic winter games, waits to be explored.
Discovery Journey Vorarlberg
Participants will find out why the contemporary art and design scene is blooming in Austria‘s most western province. The Bregenz Festival with its floating stage is only one of the cultural highlights. After spending a night in Bregenz the tour continues to the Montafon valley for a day hike and the rolling hills of Bregenzerwald region next to experience Austria’s exceptional hospitality in family run historic hotels. Produce is local and organic by default in this region.
The nominal participation fee of AUD 895 includes return airfares on Emirates from the nearest Australian airport, airport transfers, seven overnights in luxury and first class hotels, all local transfers, all meals, educational and social programs and entrance fees.
