The E-Grand Tour is the world’s first official touring route that is fully accessible to electric vehicles and bikes, featuring five Alpine passes, 22 lakes and 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Effective April 2017, an extensive network of about 200 charging stations will be available along the entire 1,600km route.
The charging stations for the E-Grand Tour are all ‘smart’, so travellers will be able to hop online to check in advance if the charging station is free of charge, available or if a reservation is required. Pricing for a charge is about CHF5-7, or free at many hotels offering the facility.
Fast charging stations (DC) with at least 22kW will be present at major attractions such as the Rheinfall where travellers will be on a short driving break while sightseeing, whereas public charging stations (AC) with at least 11kW will be found at hotels, where travellers will be staying the night.
The maximum distance between charging stations will be 100km.
