29 JULY: Budget airline Jetstar Asia bumped 24 passengers from a Taipei to Singapore flight because it didn’t have enough cabin crew, according to the AsiaOne news website.
When illness prevented a flight attendant reporting for duty, the carrier found that crew numbers didn’t meet civil aviation requirements.
It sought and obtained approval to operate the flight, but only if passenger numbers were reduced.
The AsiaOne report doesn’t say how the 24 bumped travellers were chosen. They were put on a flight the next day.
Jetstar Asia described the situation as "rare" and "unforeseen" and has apologised.
