16 NOV: Manila airport’s main terminal is getting a $24m facelift, the Philippines government announced yesterday.
The move comes just weeks after it was named the world’s worst international airport.
Transport Secretary Manuel Roxas says the aim will be to cut waiting times at immigration, customs and baggage collection.
"The airport was designed 30 years ago", he noted. "Wear and tear is taking its toll".
Work will begin in January and is expected to take 18 months.
