7 OCT: The US airline flight attendant who famously exited a plane and his job after swearing at passengers and sliding down an emergency chute a year ago is planning to write a book, it’s reported today.
The tentative title is ‘Cabin Pressure’.
Steven Slater made headlines worldwide after the October 2010 incident at Pittsburgh airport, said to have been sparked by a confrontation with a female passenger who tried to remove belongings from an overhead compartment on the JetBlue aircraft while it was still on the runway after a landing.
The women used foul language and Mr Slater snapped, responding in no uncertain terms and then grabbing a beer and activating an emergency chute to leave the plane.
He was subsequently charged with attempted criminal mischief, forced to undergo counselling and rehabilitation for alcoholism, and required to pay JetBlue $US10,000 in compensation.
But he won as lot of sympathy and reportedly now has 185,000 Facebook fans.
