8 NOV: The first technical problem has been reported with Boeing’s much-ballyhooed new 787 Dreamliner.
Launch customer All Nippon Airways said a 787 experienced a landing-gear problem on Sunday, just two weeks after it went into service.
Pilots had to make a second approach to Tokyo’s Haneda airport after they received an error message indicating the jet’s landing gear had not engaged properly.
"The plane went around again as the pilot manually lowered the landing gear," an ANA spokeswoman told news agency AFP.
The aircraft landed safely without further incident.
The BBC reports the problem was due to a hydraulic valve fault, though airline officials say they’re still looking into the precise cause.
