28 JULY: Striking British Airways cabin crew are now suing the airline for removing their concessional travel perks, claiming it’s breaching their human rights.
Cabin crew and their families and friends enjoy fare discounts of up to 90%.
The airline warned in March, shortly before a series of walkouts began, that those who engaged in strike action would lose their concessions, and subsequently carried out its threat.
In negotiations with union leaders since then it has refused to reverse its decision unless workers agree to a new pay deal.
And it appears unmoved by action the union Unite is now taking under European human rights laws.
In a statement Monday, BA said: "Staff travel is a non-contractual perk that the company can withdraw at its discretion. We will defend our position vigorously".
Unite members have staged walkouts on 22 days since March.
