Arctic cruise ship runs aground in Canada

31 AUG: An Arctic cruise vessel ran aground near the town of Kugluktuk in northern Canada at the weekend.

Clipper Adventurer was carrying 128 passengers and 69 crew. There were no injuries.

The vessel is owned by Ontario-based Adventure Canada.

Initial attempts to re-float it failed and eventually the Canadian Coast Guard was called in to transport passengers to Kugluktuk, from where they were flown to Edmonton.

Latest reports said the ship was still grounded, with a slight list.
