11 AUG: Cruise lines in Australia shouldn’t look to the booming American market to help them fill big increases in capacity.
This part of the world isn’t even on the radar of US cruise enthusiasts, according to a survey by the Cruise Lines International Association, the North American equivalent of the International Cruise Council Australasia.
The CLIA has issued a top 10 list of where Americans plan to cruise, and the South Pacific isn’t on it.
The 10, in order, are the Caribbean, Alaska, the Bahamas, Hawaii, the Med and Greek Islands, Europe, the Panama Canal, Canada/New England and Mexico.
The CLIA survey showed that 73 million Americans have cruised at some point in their lives and 36 million plan to cruise in the next three years.
