New Costa lawsuit seeks $160,000 for every Concordia passenger

27 JAN: A New York law firm dealing in personal injury has joined forces with Codacons, the Italian consumer-protection organization, in filing a class action against Costa Cruises over the Concordia disaster.

Proner and Proner says it has already initiated legal action against Francesco Schettino, Concordia’s captain, in the Italian civil courts.

It says the action will seek at least $160,000 for each passenger who was aboard the ship.

The firm believes that those who were "severely injured", as well as the families of those who lost loved ones, can collect hundreds of thousands of dollars on top of that amount.
