17 AUG: Cruiseco has adopted a new ploy in a bid to fill cabins on its Rhapsody of the Seas Rugby World Cup charter.
The consortium has introduced a ‘friendly four’ option, chopping another $400 off the base price for rugby fans prepared to share a four-berth cabin.
It reduces the lead-in price to just $1599 inside, $1799 outside for an eight-night package ex Auckland, with free trans-Tasman air still included.
It’s less than half the original starting price and $400 below the heavily-discounted $1999 a person twin share lead-in announced for a five-day sale late last month.
That deal, also including trans-Tasman air, is still available.
A NZ source was quoted in late July as saying there were still hundreds of unsold Rhapsody berths.
The tournament gets under way in just over three weeks.
