11 OCT: Royal Caribbean liner Freedom of the Seas was hit by "extreme wind and sea conditions" as it left Port Canaveral, Florida on Sunday night on a cruise to the eastern Caribbean.
There were some injuries, but they were not serious, the line said in a statement.
There was also some damage to public areas and cabins, but the cruise is continuing.
The statement said the wind speed at the time of departure was three times greater than forecast.
A Carnival liner, Carnival Sensation, also due to depart Port Canaveral on Sunday night, remained in port till yesterday morning because of the weather.
