27 SEP: Mexican authorities were still searching Gulf of Mexico waters yesterday for a passenger who jumped from a Carnival liner.
The man, identified as a 39-year-old Texan, threw himself into the sea shortly after Carnival Conquest left the Mexican Caribbean port of Cozumel.
The ship, which was on a seven-day cruise from Galveston, returned to the area to begin rescue operations, but was released when Mexican authorities took over.
A report says Carnival staff have been providing support to the man’s family.
