Gucci moves into hotels

Another fashion icon is moving into the hotel business.

Gucci will open a boutique property in Dubai by the end of the year.

The announcement comes just weeks after fashion designer Giorgio Armani opened a 175-room luxury hotel in Dubai bearing his name.

The Gucci property of 80 rooms, to be named the Elisabetta Gucci Hotel (after Paolo Gucci’s daughter) will be the first of a number opening around the world over the next 15 years.

An added feature will see guests able to buy any of the items in the hotel, from slippers to furniture and bed linen.

Rates aqre expected to range from between $US400 a night to nearly $US7000.
