Europe rail surge

Rail agent Rail Plus is seeing more Australian business travellers catching high-speed trains in Europe.

General manager Greg McCallum says Aussies attending trade shows and conventions in Germany are turning to trains because of the ease of flying into Frankfurt, where the rail station is below the airport.

He says they’re attracted also by the facilities available in First Class compartments, including comfortable seats, meals, in-seat power sockets, WiFi access and room to work.

Germany’s ICE (inter-city express) trains reach speeds of up to 300kmh.
