British Airways is facing a series of five-day strikes by cabin crew.
Their union, Unite, yesterday announced a total 20 days of industrial action following overwhelming rejection of the airline’s latest offer aimed at ending a long-running dispute.
The stoppages will take place 18-22 May, 24-28 May, 30 May-3 June and 5-9 June.
The action threatens chaos for travellers in the run-up to the European summer holidays.
But Unite is unrepentant.
‘’Cabin crew are left with no choice but to take further strike action", it said in a statement.
"There can be no industrial peace without meaningful negotiations and while management victimises trade unionists and uses disciplinary procedures in a witch-hunt.
"The seven days notice period is sufficient time for BA management to do the sensible thing and reopen meaningful negotiations".
Unite said it was also planning to hold a further industrial action ballot of BA cabin crew over issues which have arisen from the company’s conduct during the dispute.
