Baggage handlers jailed for stealing from passengers' luggage

29 JULY: Two baggage handlers at Luton airport north of London have been jailed for six months and three months respectively after hidden police cameras showed them stealing from passengers’ suitcases.

Police launched their sting operation after large numbers of travellers reported items missing from checked luggage.

Since the two were arrested in February, reports of theft have plunged 77%.

Luton is Britain’s fifth-busiest airport.
