9 MAY: Tourists run the risk of stiff fines if they walk the streets of Barcelona in skimpy beachwear.
New laws banning the wearing of bikinis away from beach areas come into effect later this month.
Flouting the ban will cost up to 300 euros (about $400).
The crackdown comes as Spain prepares for the annual influx of summer tourists, particularly from Britain and Germany.
Barcelona has also introduced fines for drinking liquor from cans and bottles in the streets.
