Princess Cruises is giving Aussie passengers the chance to engage in traditional shipboard farewells with friends and family before their ship sails.

Princess adds a $49 upgrade to shipboard farewells.
But it’s going to cost them.
The ‘Bon Voyage Experience’ program, launching 1 July in Sydney and Melbourne, will allow about 50 friends and relatives to go aboard for lunch with departing passengers and a tour of the ship.
A fee of $49 a visitor will also include a souvenir photo.
The new program comes more than 20 years after a tightening of maritime security put an end to the practice of shipboard farewells.
Visitors from July will undergo the same security screening as passengers.
Princess says the program has "met with resounding enthusiasm" in the US, where it launched last month.
