DFAT issues Munich Oktoberfest warning

6 SEP: Australian Foreign Affairs has updated its travel advisory for Germany to include a behaviour warning to those planning to attend the annual Oktoberfest beer festival in Munich (18 September to 3 October).

The advisory notes that Australians have in the past been detained for lengthy periods for anti-social behaviour.

And this had made it difficult for them to enter Germany or other Schengen countries subsequently.

The advisory says also that there’ll be increased demand for accommodation during the festival and travellers should expect delays.
