3 JUN: Customs officers at Bangkok airport have made a massive discovery of smuggled wildlife.
They have found 431 turtles and rare reptiles packed in four suitcases.
The creatures included a type of crocodile native to India and an endangered species.
A Customs official said the smuggler, who is a known trafficker of exotic animals, probably intended taking the creatures to Bangkok’s Chatujak market - a sprawling mass of 11,000 stalls with a dedicated per section.
The official said that a large seizure of exotic animals is not a rare occurrence at Bangkok airport.
