Jetset shareholders approve merger plan

6 SEP: Jetset Travelworld shareholders have voted overwhelmingly, but not unanimously, in favour of the merger with Stella.

Peter Lacaze, who becomes ceo of the new group, said after yesterday’s vote that he’s excited to be "teking the reins" on 1 October.

He said that’s when "the real work will begin to drive the group forward as one of the leading travel services companies in Australia and New Zealand".

Jetset Travelworld shares were steady at 82c at the close of trading yesterday, indicating that the vote result was a foregone conclusion.
