9 JUN: More laptop computers are lost or damaged during screening at Los Angeles airport than any other item, the LA Times newspaper reported Wednesday.
The claim is based on an analysis of records kept by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), the body responsible for security at America’s main airports.
The Times says LAX travellers made 202 computer claims against the TSA during the three years to last December.
But the paper warns that the chances of obtaining compensation are fairly remote.
The TSA paid out on only 13% of the claims.
