9 JUN: The company which runs London’s bicycle hire scheme is under fire after a series of administrative errors led to users being overcharged.
The company has had to refund thousands of pounds to 577 renters, admitting that some aspects of the operation need to be improved.
Controlled by Transport for London and launched last July, the scheme currently sees about 22,000 people a day renting 5000 bikes from ‘docking points’ around the city.
Major expansion is planned ahead of next year’s Olympic Games.
