12 MAY: The Avis Travel Agent Scholarship of Excellence program has received a major boost with the signing of a three-year sponsorship agreement with Southern Cross University.
Under the agreement, scholarship winners will receive financial support of up to $10,000 towards the first year of a three-year Bachelor of Tourism Management course at SCU’s School of Tourism & Hospitality Management.
Avis Travel Industry Manager Russell Butler said SCU’s generous sponsorship provided travel agents with an extraordinary educational incentive.
"Scholarship winners will have an opportunity to advance their careers by studying at a University internationally recognised for the quality of its tourism and hospitality education and research," he said.
This year the scholarship will offer the winning agent a wide range of travel and educational prizes, with the total prize worth more than $40,000.
Further details will be unveiled at the 2011 official launch next Wednesday.
