15 JUN: New owners of Ayers Rock Resort have outlined plans to introduce genuine indigenous experiences as part of a major upgrade.
The Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) paid $300m for the resort in a deal finalised last month.
Md Koos Klein told the ABC that the corporation plans an Aboriginal-theme spa and a wildlife area, among other things.
There’s also an aim to have indigenous people make up half of the total workforce by 2018.
Major upgrading will see the 5-star Sails in the Desert hotel and adjoining conference centre upgraded first.
"We believe, with somewhat upgraded conference facilities, we will be able to get a lot more conferences and incentive trips to the resort," Mr Klein said.
