14 JUN: A Sunday newspaper story suggests that Channel 9 is about to axe its ‘Getaway’ travel program completely.
It has already been cut to half an hour and moved from 7.30pm Thursday to 5.30pm Saturday.
And the Sunday Telegraph reported that despite the channel’s assertion that production is to resume next year, "insiders are a bit more doubtful".
The paper said a "source linked to the show" claimed that an internal memo was circulated on Friday telling staff of job losses and the end of production.
The report quotes ‘Getaway’ presenter Catriona Rowntree as saying: "It’s an interesting time, but the truth is, who knows what will happen.
"We’re happy it’s doing well as a lead-in to the news, and at the end of the day it’s TV - you roll with it and do the best you can".
