7 JUN: West Australian tourism officials say the ‘Oprah’ effect is starting to show up in visitor figures.
The state saw a 53% increase in arrivals from the US in the March quarter, ABC News reported yesterday.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the December visit of American TV host Oprah Winfrey had contributed to that increase.
In the 12 months to March, WA saw the total number of overseas visitors rise 2.6% to 706,600.
