The panoramic view Airbus is promising passengers of 2050.
14 JUN: The term ‘bums on seats’ will have new meaning aboard future Airbus aircraft.
Seats will use the heat generated by passengers to provide some of the power needed to fly the planes.
The European planemaker has unveiled a range of remarkable features which it says will be standard with its biggest jets by 2050.
One of the most spectacular is a see-through design, which will give travellers panoramic views of the skies above and the world below.
Planes won’t be divided into first, business and economy cabins.
Instead, there’ll be personalised zones tailored to individual tastes and needs
Seat design will no longer have a one-size-fits-all approach. They’ll be made of materials which mould to the shape of the body.
Airbus says the plane of the future will not be isolated from the ground.
An interactive zone will use holograms to make it possible to play a game of virtual golf or even try on clothes in a virtual changing room.
Thanks to the use of new materials, planes of the future will be lighter, consume less fuel and have a far lower carbon footprint than aircraft in the skies today, the company says.
