Rail beats ash problems

Luxury sailing ship operator Star Clippers is working around Europe’s volcanic ash air disruption with ‘rail and sail’ packages.

The line is linking Mediterranean sailings out of Monaco and Cannes with travel from Britain using Eurostar and French Railways.

Special deals are available for short cruises in May, June and September.

A three-night sailing costs from 899 UK pounds (about $1500), including rail from London and a night on the Cote d’Azur.
