2 JUN: Action is hotting up again in the war between US airlines and GDS operators.
American Airlines (AA) yesterday added Sabre to an anti-trust lawsuit it earlier filed against Travelport, owner of Galileo.
The new filing claims that Sabre and Travelport control over 90% of bookings made by US-based travel agencies, dominating an essential link to agencies and many consumers.
The airline said the two GDS firms continue to engage in anti-competitive conduct to protect their market position from alternative technology.
Sabre, meantime, has filed a motion to intervene in AA’s lawsuit against Travelport, claiming that AA is engaging in anti-competitive conduct to maintain its monopoly position over air transport out of its hubs and between many US and Caribbean points.
The renewed legal moves come as AA and Sabre negotiate an agreement on distribution.
