16 MAY: Growing safety and security concerns among business travellers are sparking "a clear return" to use of travel management companies (TMCs), Travelscene corporate agents were told at a gathering in Shanghai over the weekend.
Travelscene corporate manager David Padman said: "The consensus from our presenters, members and suppliers is that there is a strong swing back towards corporate travel and TMCs - and that’s based on cold, hard data".
His comments came during the network’s annual Corporate Symposium, which this year drew a record 150 delegates.
The gathering saw the unveiling of technology initiatives, including a ‘Dashboard’ program which analyses sales and productivity across the group.
"This technology, which has been developed with members’ input, is fundamental to being able to optimise productivity and profitability, and to our ability to shift market share through demonstrating that support to suppliers," ceo Mike Thompson said.
Melbourne-based agency etm Group was named winner of the network’s Innovation Award, with Sydney’s Spencer Travel runner-up.
