Authorities have launched an investigation into whether a fire which broke out on the NCL liner Norwegian Epic in a French shipyard last week was arson.
The blaze was confined to a relatively small area of one deck and affected only wiring.
But shipyard owner STX France said in a statement that a local public prosecutor in Saint-Nazaire launched an inquiry into the blaze after a preliminary investigation indicated it was suspicious.
According to the statement, STX is considering the possibility that a fire was intentionally set because the extinguishing system was out service and there was no work being undertaken in the area which could have caused the blaze.
The yard said the fire was contained to an area of cables in the rear of deck 4, and the structure of the ship was not damaged.
It says the scheduled delivery date of 15 June is unchanged.
