9 MAY: Recruitment company TMS Asia-Pacific says travel industry firms should appoint ‘social media managers’ to help keep them competitive in what it calls the growing "war for talent".
Social media is playing an increasing role in recruitment, TMS ceo Andrew Chan says in a statement issued overnight, as more and more employers recognise the benefits it offers beyond traditional channels.
"Savvy organisations understand that they need to adopt similar strategies in marketing to potential employees as they would their customers," Mr Chan said.
"I’ve seen some very clever campaigns from hotel companies ensuring these types of messages are clearly carried across to potential candidates and we are starting to see a huge increase in the number of job advertisements appearing through the likes of Facebook and Twitter."
Mr Chan says his company’s recently-launched iPhone application has attracted more than 40,000 subscribers.
