Aussies spending more on North America tour arrangements, says Insight

29 JULY: More Australians are taking two tours during a single North America trip, according to Insight Vacations.

It believes historically low air fares are encouraging many to buy both west coast and east coast packages.

The company is catering to the trend with the launch of two new east coast itineraries - one centred on Canada’s maritime provinces and the other linking major cities of the northeastern USA.

Insight sees a bright future for its North America program, which currently accounts for only 10% of total business here.

Feedback from customer surveys shows that 89% of travellers want to visit there or Europe over the next two to four years. It says its repeat business factor of 45% is growing.

The company has four new USA/Canada tours for 2011, including a return to Alaska after a break.

There are 17 itineraries in all, including Mexico.

Md Lorraine Sharp says prices overall are on a par with this year - up slightly in some cases, down in others.

The company notes that agents can now book online, accessing its system via the agent area of website insightvacations.com.au
