NEW: Watson quits Counsellors

Travel Counsellors Australia co-founder Peter Watson left the home-based agency on Friday.

It’s understood that chairman David Speakman will take over as acting general manager until a replacement is found.

Mr Watson declined to comment on his departure today and there was no immediate comment from the network.

Mr Watson and Tim Martin, who left the business some months ago, set up Travel Counsellors in Australia nearly four years ago in conjunction with operators of the brand in Britain.

It now has about 130 outlets Australia-wide.
