18 MAY: The Chinese island of Hainan is going to be home to the world’s largest duty-free shopping complex.
A facility featuring some 350,000 square metres of retail space will be built ay Sanya, the southernmost city in China and a booming tourist destination.
Plans for the project, which will include a hotel, were unveiled at a retail industry event in Singapore on Monday.
Developers say stage one of the complex will be open in two to three years.
