30 AUG: British Airways has apologised for causing "undue distress" after telling passengers aboard a flight from London to Hong Kong last week to prepare for a crash landing.
Passengers were settling in to watch a movie when they heard: "This is an emergency announcement. We may shortly need to make an emergency landing on water".
But it was all a mistake, with cabin crew running down aisles to calm travellers.
BA said the scare was caused by a software glitch, denying claims that a crew member had pushed a wrong button.
One passenger told media: "People were terrified. We all thought we were going to die".
