18 AUG: A man who pretended to have a fit to avoid paying his restaurant bills has been jailed for 18 months in the US.
Andrew Palmer would order an expensive meal and then fake a seizure when he was presented with the bill, rolling around on the floor while frantic restaurant staff called for an ambulance.
The 43-year-old con man would then be carried out on a stretcher - without paying.
Once at the hospital, he discharged himself after treatment.
Investigators believe he pulled the stunt in at least a dozen restaurants in Baltimore, Maryland.
Police dubbed him the ‘dine and dash’ thief. They picked him up after restaurants in Baltimore were warned to be on their guard against a diner who faked illness.
