Accor signs landmark deal to open Mövenpick in Abuja

Accor is expanding its West Africa footprint with a major new signing in Nigeria’s capital, confirming the launch of Mövenpick and Mövenpick Living Abuja in partnership with John Williams Hotels & Resorts and Boulevard Hotel Group.

The dual-branded development, set to open in early 2026, marks the debut of the Mövenpick Living extended-stay concept in Nigeria.

Located in Abuja’s Central Business District on Constitution Avenue, the project will feature 138 hotel rooms and 36 serviced apartments catering to both short-stay guests and long-stay corporate, expatriate and diplomatic travellers. Blending contemporary design with the relaxed, generous hospitality Mövenpick is known for, the property will offer four dining venues, a 665-square-metre ballroom, meeting and conference spaces, a spa, fitness centre and outdoor pool.

Strategic positioning in a high-growth market

With direct access to the Three Arms Zone and just 30 minutes from Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Mövenpick and Mövenpick Living Abuja is positioned to become a key hub for business travel and MICE activity. Accor says the signing reflects strong long-term confidence in Nigeria’s premium and extended-stay segments, where demand continues to strengthen.

Accor’s regional development lead, Maya Ziade, said the agreement reinforces the group’s commitment to West Africa and responds to increasing demand for flexible, high-quality accommodation options. Executives from John Williams Hotels & Resorts and Boulevard Hotel Group highlighted the project’s role in introducing international hospitality standards while creating opportunities for local talent and supply chains.

Strengthening Accor’s regional portfolio

Accor currently operates four hotels in Nigeria and more than 167 properties across Africa. The new Abuja development adds to the group’s growing pipeline, reflecting ongoing investment in key gateway cities and emerging markets across the continent. Mövenpick now includes more than 130 hotels globally, with over 90 additional properties in development.
