In order to ensure the ongoing sustainability and success of its travel brands, the APT Travel Group (ATG) has announced restructuring that will see David Cox step into the new key role of CEO for the Group, and a new Management Team formed. Chris Hall will remain in his role as managing director of APH, the parent company of ATG, and partner in a number of other travel businesses, while Debra Fox will be departing from ATG.
“These are difficult times to say the least, all of the industry is all too aware of this, and while I know we will survive, we need to take tough decisions to do so, and one of those is in regards to the structure of the business,” said Hall.
“Deb is to be recognised, not only for her significant contribution as a senior leader within ATG, but also as a female leader in the travel industry. Her impact has been substantial both within ATG and across the industry. She is respected and admired and we sincerely thank her for all she has done and wish her the very best for the future.
“We are a resilient business and will recover, however we are facing the biggest challenge in our 90-year history. These changes are being made to ensure we emerge from this period financially solid, retaining as many people as possible, and remain a trusted travel agent partner now and into the future.”
David Cox has been with the ATG business for nearly 20 years and brings a wealth of experience to the CEO role. His knowledge of both the business and the industry, as well as his expertise and appreciation of valued travel partners make him well placed to bring success to the new position. He has most recently been instrumental in the success of the Travelmarvel brand and is a leader in driving product advancement and innovations across the business.
The new management team will be formed with a number of general manager roles, utilising internal talent.
