The Australian Travel Careers Council (ATCC) has announced the addition of two new directors to its Advisory Board: Kellie Stanbury, General Manager of Helloworld Business Travel, and Barry Mayo, former Director of House of Travel Holdings N.Z. and Chair of Travel Managers Australia.
CEO of ATCC, Rick Myatt, praised the appointments, stating, “They both bring a wealth of experience in different activities of the industry, understand unique skill sets related to their areas, and are full of enthusiasm to assist in promoting industry careers. These are the professionals with extensive knowledge and passion we need to help us steer the strategic direction going forward in the industry workforce development.”
Supporting career pathways in travel and tourism
Since its establishment in 2011, ATCC has been committed to guiding graduates into the travel and tourism sector, particularly from regional and rural schools and VET colleges, through initiatives like the Travel Ambassador Program. The organisation also provides ongoing consultative support to help ensure graduates remain engaged in their chosen careers.
ATCC actively reviews federal and state government policies to ensure the national training system, including the SIT Training Package for Tourism, Travel, and Hospitality, aligns with current and future industry needs. Through collaboration with the Jobs and Skills Council (Service & Creative Skills Australia), NSW Industry Training Advisory Body (ITAB), and other regulatory bodies, ATCC advocates for meaningful workforce development in the travel and tourism sector.
Industry expertise shaping the future
Kellie Stanbury and Barry Mayo bring extensive experience and a shared passion for advancing industry careers. Their participation on the Advisory Board will strengthen ATCC’s strategic efforts to support skills development and workforce growth.
Stanbury and Mayo are eager to contribute to ATCC’s mission. They join an organisation deeply involved in initiatives such as internships, traineeships, direct career promotions, and providing industry-focused training policy advice for the development of the National Training Package.
