Austria Tourism has released its latest updates for agents, showcasing a busy cultural season, significant hotel news and key information to help travellers prepare for upcoming European trips. With winter approaching and major 2026 events on the horizon, the Austrian tourism landscape is set for a vibrant year ahead.
New and notable hotel openings
A by Adina Vienna has opened along the Danube, bringing Australian-style laidback luxury to the capital with apartment-style stays and sweeping city views. Later this month, Mandarin Oriental Vienna will welcome guests to its first Austrian property, offering 138 rooms and suites, a ballroom, refined dining and a signature spa experience.
In Lech, the legendary Hotel Kristberg will reopen in December following a major transformation, marking a new chapter for the iconic Arlberg property. Agents can also explore the Austria Hotel Collection, featuring 29 handpicked properties including boutique family-run stays, spa resorts and private apartments across cities and Alpine regions.
Award wins for Austrian hospitality
Hotel Sacher Vienna has been named one of the World’s 50 Best Hotels just as it approaches its 150th anniversary. Meanwhile, AQUA DOME in Tirol has once again been honoured at the World Spa Awards, taking home the title of World’s Best Mineral and Hot Springs Spa for 2025.
New cultural experiences in Vienna and Salzburg
Salzburg has introduced Date with Mozart, a new concert series performed in the state rooms where Mozart himself once played. In Vienna, the new Sisi Dinner blends immersive theatre, multimedia staging and a royal-inspired dinner for a deep dive into the life of Empress Elisabeth.
Agents can also look ahead to 2026, which will host an exciting program of festivals and events including Eurovision and the 80th anniversary of the Bregenz Festival.
Winter and alpine travel inspiration
Austria’s winter season offers everything from downhill skiing and tobogganing to scenic sleigh rides, wellness retreats and après-ski traditions. A practical guide is available to help agents support last-minute winter enquiries.
Important travel updates
Travellers from outside the EU should be aware that the new EU Entry-Exit System (EES) came into effect on 12 October 2025. Non-EU visitors entering the EU or Schengen countries for short stays will now be required to provide biometric data on their first entry.
In the Salzkammergut region, Salzwelten Hallstatt will remain closed for renovation until summer 2026, with alternative experiences available at Salzwelten Altaussee and shuttle services between Hallstatt and Altaussee.
