California opens digital doors with new Accessibility Hub

Visit California has launched a dedicated Accessibility Hub, offering travellers with disabilities a centralised online resource for discovering barrier-free experiences across the state.

The initiative, unveiled on 6 August 2025, is designed to support both travellers and tourism operators with practical tools, expert advice and inspirational content.

In partnership with disability advocate and BAFTA Award-winning presenter Sophie Morgan, the hub features an original three-part road trip series titled Joy Diversion, which premiered on Visit California’s YouTube channel on 28 July. The series captures the spirit of accessible travel across California, spotlighting its diverse landscapes – from desert hideaways to wine country – through Morgan’s lens.

Travelling without limits

“Road trips in California are all about travelling without compromise,” said Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California.

“This Joy Diversion series – and Sophie’s storytelling – brings to life everything that makes California the world’s ultimate playground.”

Morgan, who recently relocated from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles, explores the open roads with friends in the series, sharing her experiences of spontaneous and accessible travel.

“Since moving to California, I’ve been blown away by how easy and joyful road tripping can be,” she said.

“This series is a reflection of that – it’s about celebrating movement, spontaneity and the joy of the open road.”

Expert voices and a broader vision

The Accessibility Hub also includes insights from other leading voices in accessible travel, such as award-winning writer Cory Lee. His contributions provide first-hand tips and tools for travellers seeking inclusive and hassle-free adventures.

With California set to host major international events including the FIFA World Cup in 2026 and the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028, this initiative is part of a wider commitment to inclusivity through Visit California’s Playful Journeys platform.
