Cathay Pacific expands network with return to Brisbane and Perth

Cathay Pacific has announced its return to the Southwest Pacific network, with non-stop flights to Hong Kong from Brisbane and Perth set to resume from 26 October 2025, ahead of the Northern Hemisphere winter peak.

The airline will operate daily services from both cities, offering travellers more flexibility and enhanced connectivity through its Hong Kong hub. The Brisbane–Hong Kong route will include two daily departures, while Perth–Hong Kong will also feature twice-daily flights, catering to strong passenger and freight demand.

Cathay Pacific’s Regional General Manager, Southwest Pacific, Frosti Lau, said, “Every new service is an opportunity to open more doors for our customers, and we’re proud to serve as a key gateway for both travellers and freight to Hong Kong and beyond from these two cities.”

Milestone in global expansion

The launch coincides with the Cathay Group’s milestone of reaching 100 global passenger destinations, highlighting its ongoing commitment to expanding its international network.

Brisbane Airport’s Executive General Manager Aviation, Ryan Both, welcomed the move, noting Hong Kong’s strategic importance as a passenger and freight gateway, especially during the summer peak when Cathay will operate more than 80 weekly flights from Australia.

Meanwhile, Cathay Pacific is proud to have been recognised as one of the world’s top three best airlines in the prestigious 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards. In addition to securing this esteemed ranking, the airline has achieved two remarkable accolades: being named World’s Best Economy Class Airline for the second consecutive year and winning World’s Best Inflight Entertainment for the second time in three years.
