CLIA Masters program empowers next gen leaders

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has welcomed the first group of travel agents into its prestigious 2025 Masters Program, offering 60 participants the chance to attain the association’s highest level of professional recognition.

Exclusive program for cruise specialists

Designed for travel agents who have already achieved CLIA Ambassador status, the six-week Masters Program helps agents elevate their business beyond mainstream cruise selling. The curriculum focuses on identifying new revenue opportunities, refining brand identity, and building a competitive edge in today’s evolving retail environment.

CLIA Head of Training & Development Peter Kollar said the program attracts some of the most experienced and motivated cruise sellers in the region.

“Fewer than 2 per cent of retail travel agents hold CLIA Masters accreditation, which is a testament to the program’s exclusivity and the level of expertise required to complete it,” he said.

Royal Caribbean backs rising stars initiative

This year, 24 top-performing agents have been selected as “rising stars” and sponsored by Royal Caribbean. These standout agents, nominated by leading agency groups, were honoured at CLIA’s recent Cruise Industry Awards and will also have the opportunity to sail on a Royal Caribbean voyage as part of the program.

Royal Caribbean Director of Sales for Australia and New Zealand Dave Humphreys said the cruise line is committed to long-term agent development.

“It’s key for Royal Caribbean to continue supporting these leaders’ growth through initiatives like the Masters Program,” he said.

Recognition and rewards for successful graduates

Upon completing the course and final assignment, participants receive 100 CLIA accreditation points and earn the title of CLIA Cruise Master. Graduates also benefit from enhanced visibility through a higher search ranking on the CLIA Australasia website.

The 2025 Masters Program will be offered in two intakes, during March and September, and is available exclusively to CLIA-registered agents across Australasia and Asia.
