Cruise Express has launched a new all-inclusive tour through regional New South Wales and Victoria, combining heritage rail journeys, off-the-beaten-track destinations, and exclusive local experiences in a two-week adventure set to depart 31 August 2026.
The new 14-day Spirit of the Southwest tour begins in Sydney and explores country towns, vast outback landscapes, and vibrant regional centres including Mudgee, Parkes, Broken Hill, Mildura, Ballarat, and Melbourne, before looping back via Albury and Murrumbateman.
Designed for lovers of rail travel, the itinerary features four exclusive heritage train experiences, including the iconic 1960s rail motor 621/761 and the storied ‘Royal Train’, offering open-air balconies, historic compartments, and full dining car service. Guests will also enjoy time aboard restored Spirit of Progress carriages.
Highlights off the rails

Beyond the train journeys, the tour includes a series of curated experiences. These include:
- Dinner with matched wines at Lowe Winery in Mudgee
- A scenic drive around Mount Panorama followed by a meal at Matt Moran’s Rockley Pub
- Sundowners in the outback at The Living Desert and Sculptures
- A full-day exploration of Mungo National Park including a guided tour of the Walls of China and lunch at Mungo Lodge
- An exclusive dinner aboard a Murray River paddle steamer
Guests will also visit Walla Park farm for a shearing demonstration and a local produce lunch, enjoy tastings at Fowles Wine in Avenel and Trentham Estate Winery, and relax with drinks at venues including the Tipsy Camel and Aunty Jacks brewpub.

Prices start from $9,990 per person twin share or $11,990 for solo travellers. The fare includes:
